In 1980, after the death of the president of the former Yugoslavia Josip Broz Tito - Yugoslavia began to collapse, leading to the break-up of the multiethnic Yugoslav federation in four wars:

  • Slovenia in 1991
  • Croatia 1991-1995
  • Bosnia and Herzegovina 1992-1995
  • Kosovo in 1999
