He brought us 300 protective uniforms for fire fighting, worth about $240,000. Our senior officer went to a Firemen’ Congress in America and they proclaimed the Sarajevo fire brigade the bravest in the world. USA Vice-President Al Gore, received our commander too and acknowledged the courage of our firemen. John Jordan visited Sarajevo several times and after 1993 was stationed there permanently. He had his own unit in Cengic Vila. He helped us a lot, but he wanted something, perhaps, which we couldn’t give him so we broke off relations at the end of 1994 and he went back to America.
