During the period from the 29th of May until September 1992, mainly within the framework of the HVO, the goal was to prepare the soldiers to carry out their task: to defend the front lines. We felt that it was most important to defend the area from Stup towards Ilidza, or from Stup to Rajlovac and down towards Dobrosevici, the area that was inhabited by Serbs. Stup was most immediately in danger of attack from that direction. The first fighting in Stup, in which the HVO participated, began on the 13th and 14th of September 1992.
